Brazil’s 2024/25 Soybean Harvest Reaches 23% Completion, AgRural Reports

As of last Thursday, Brazil’s soybean harvest for the 2024/25 season is 23% complete, according to agribusiness consultancy AgRural. This marks an 8 percentage point increase from the previous week, though it lags behind last year’s progress, which saw 32% of the total area harvested at the same time.

Key Highlights:
Harvest Progress:

Current soybean harvest: 23% of the planted area.
Previous week: 15% complete.
Last year: 32% complete.
Impact on Corn Planting:

Delays in soybean harvesting are affecting the planting of Brazil’s second corn crop, which is grown in the same regions and accounts for about 75% of the national corn production annually.
As of last Thursday, the planting of the 2025 second corn harvest reached 36% of the estimated area in the Center-South region, up from 20% a week earlier but down from 59% during the same period last year.
Regional Challenges:

In Mato Grosso and Goias, farmers are experiencing delays in planting the second corn crop and are racing to complete it within the ideal climate window.
Conversely, in Parana and Mato Grosso do Sul, where second corn sowing has been progressing relatively well, hot and dry weather has hindered further advancements.
