Brazil’s Soybean Planting Reaches 67% Completion, Reports AgRural

As of last Thursday, Brazil’s soybean planting for the 2024/25 season has reached 67% of the total expected area, according to agribusiness consultancy AgRural. This marks an increase from 54% the previous week and 61% at the same time last year.

Planting Progress:

AgRural noted that both planting and crop development are progressing smoothly across the country, with only occasional issues related to rainfall in isolated areas of some states.
Corn Planting Update:

In addition to soybeans, farmers in Brazil’s key center-south region have also made significant progress in planting the first corn crop, with 72% of the expected area planted as of last Thursday. This is an increase from 59% the prior week but remains below last season’s 76%.
Crop Significance:

Brazil is the world’s leading producer of soybeans. The first corn crop typically accounts for about 20% of the national output, while the second crop, planted later after soybean harvest, represents approximately 75% of total corn production.
