Argentine Soy Farmers Accelerate Planting After Weekend Rains

Following recent rains in Argentina’s agricultural heartland, soy farmers are poised to expedite the planting of this season’s soy crop, according to the Rosario grains exchange.

Rainfall Details:

The main growing region received between 7mm (0.28 inches) and 15mm (0.59 inches) of rain, while northern and eastern plains experienced up to 40mm (1.57 inches).
Favorable Conditions Ahead:

With dry weather forecasted for the coming days, farmers are expected to continue sowing an anticipated 17.7 million hectares (43.7 million acres) of soybeans this season.
“We have a week of high temperatures ahead of us. We are experiencing very significant planting activity, with almost 850,000 hectares sown in the last seven days,” stated Cristian Russo, head of agricultural estimates at the Rosario exchange.
Planting Progress:

The Buenos Aires grains exchange reported that approximately 8% of the estimated soybean area has been planted so far, with a slightly higher total area estimate of 18.6 million hectares (46 million acres).
Production Outlook:

Argentina, the world’s leading exporter of soybean oil and meal, is projected to produce between 52 million and 53 million metric tons of soybeans this season, according to the Rosario exchange.
