Russia Maintains Grain Harvest Forecast Despite Bad Weather

Despite facing adverse weather conditions, Russia has upheld its official grain harvest forecast for 2024 at 132 million metric tons. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev, who oversees the agriculture sector, stated that extreme weather events, including early spring frosts, floods, and summer heat, have impacted the harvest outlook in key producing regions.

This forecast is a decrease from the record 158 million tons harvested in 2022 and 145 million tons in 2023. Patrushev noted that the forecast may be revised based on the progress of the harvest.

As of now, farmers in 55 regions of Russia have commenced harvesting, with the pace being reported as twice as fast as last year. Approximately 40% of grain and legume fields have already been harvested, totaling nearly 64 million tons collected.
