Iran’s SLAL Reportedly Secures 100,000 Tons of Soymeal in International Tender

In a recent international tender, Iranian state-owned animal feed importer SLAL is reported to have successfully acquired approximately 100,000 metric tons of soymeal, with expectations for the origin of the product to be Argentina or Brazil. The purchase, believed to have been conducted in two equal consignments of around 50,000 tons each, was finalized at an estimated cost of 500 euros ($541.30) per ton on a cost and freight (c&f) basis. The seller is presumed to be trading house Viterra.

The tender, which concluded last Wednesday, aimed to secure up to 120,000 tons of soymeal for delivery in June/July. While SLAL’s purchase of soymeal was successful, no immediate reports have surfaced regarding the acquisition of the additional 120,000 tons of animal feed corn and 120,000 tons of feed barley that were also part of the tender.

The insights provided are based on assessments from European traders, and there is potential for further details on pricing and volumes to emerge in the future.
