The European Union has reached a provisional agreement to continue providing Ukrainian food producers with tariff-free access to EU markets until June 2025. The decision aligns with the European Commission’s proposal to suspend duties and quotas on Ukrainian farm produce, with provisions for an “emergency brake” on poultry, eggs, sugar, oats, maize, groats, and honey. If imports exceed average levels from 2022 and 2023, tariffs will be reimposed. Additionally, commitments have been secured for prompt Commission action in the event of a surge in Ukrainian wheat imports, with revised trigger levels and response timelines.
