Brazil’s Soybean Planting Reaches 80% Completion, Reports AgRural

Brazil’s soybean planting for the 2024/25 season has reached 80% of the expected area as of last Thursday, according to agribusiness consultancy AgRural. This marks an increase from 67% the previous week and 68% at the same time last year.

Regional Progress:

Planting activity is accelerating in Rio Grande do Sul and the Matopiba region, where sowing typically begins later in the season.
AgRural noted that crops are developing well across the country.
Concerns Over Weather:

Despite positive overall progress, a reduction in rainfall in the South and parts of Mato Grosso do Sul has raised concerns among farmers. However, AgRural emphasized that it is too early to discuss potential losses in these areas.
Corn Planting Update:

For Brazil’s 2024/25 summer corn, planting has reached 86% of the estimated area in the Center-South region, up from 72% the previous week and 80% a year ago.
In the South, where summer corn planting is complete, farmers are closely monitoring weather forecasts, particularly in areas where crops are in the reproductive phase and rainfall has been scarce.
