Argentina’s Grain Exports Poised for Four-Year High in 2024/25

Argentina’s grain and oilseed production could reach up to 143 million metric tons in the 2024/25 season, potentially boosting exports to their highest levels in four years, according to the Rosario grains exchange. If normal weather conditions prevail, exports of key crops such as soy, corn, and wheat could rise to 101.5 million tons, the highest since the 2020/21 season.

As the leading global exporter of soybean oil and flour and a significant corn supplier, Argentina’s agricultural output is crucial to its economy. However, the exchange cautioned that if rainfall is insufficient, the total harvest could drop to as low as 128.8 million tons.

Currently, soil moisture levels in Argentina’s agricultural core are adequate, but western and northern regions are experiencing urgent rainfall shortages. Soybean planting is scheduled to begin next month, while corn planting has already commenced in recent weeks.
