Germany’s Winter Wheat Crop Expected to Decline by 15% Due to Poor Weather

Germany’s winter wheat crop for 2024 is projected to decrease by approximately 15% year-on-year, totaling around 18.03 million metric tons, according to the DBV association of German farmers. This decline is attributed to adverse weather conditions, particularly persistent summer rain, which hindered harvesting efforts and negatively impacted both the volume and quality of the crop.

The forecast continues a trend of reduced crop yields in Germany this year, raising concerns among farmers about the overall agricultural output.
