Exxon Reports 59 Layoffs to Texas Agency Post-Pioneer Acquisition

Exxon Mobil has notified the Texas Workforce Commission of 59 layoffs as part of workforce adjustments following its $60 billion acquisition of Pioneer Natural Resources. The company indicated that over 1,500 Pioneer employees were offered positions as part of the merger, which involved Pioneer’s approximately 2,200 employees.

The layoffs include 39 workers from Las Colinas, Texas, where Pioneer’s former headquarters is located. Exxon did not specify how many of those laid off chose not to accept new positions or what roles they had been offered. Additionally, the notifications included 18 workers from Midland and two from the Concho Valley, both situated in West Texas.

The merger has combined Pioneer’s extensive 850,000 net acres in the Midland Basin with Exxon’s own 570,000 net acres across the Delaware and Midland Basins.
