BHP has announced the hiring of Dominic Perrottet, the former leader of New South Wales (NSW), Australia, as a liaison for U.S. government and external affairs in Washington, D.C. This move was confirmed by spokespeople for both BHP and Perrottet on Friday.
At 41, Perrottet led NSW for the conservative Liberal party from 2021 to 2023 and previously served as the state treasurer, accumulating over a decade of experience in state government.
He will relocate to Washington with his wife and seven children, with his new role set to commence in the coming weeks, as reported by the Australian Financial Review.
Perrottet has a background in implementing reforms to the state’s tax systems, privatizing public assets to fund major infrastructure projects, and leading efforts to reopen NSW following the COVID-19 pandemic.
