Zijin Mining Cooperates with Congo Authorities Following Cobalt Radiation Recall

Zijin Mining, a Chinese mining giant, has pledged to collaborate with authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo after a shipment of cobalt from its mine was found to have above-normal radiation levels.

The company has taken action following the detection of radiation during a routine customs inspection in Botswana, despite the consignment being tested prior to export.

The incident has led to the suspension of Zijin’s COMMUS mine operating license, prompting an investigation by Congolese authorities.
