Ukraine’s Energy System Stabilised After Russian Attacks: Zelenskiy Calls for International Support to Defend Kharkiv

The Ukrainian energy system, previously damaged by Russian missile attacks, has now largely stabilised, with the energy ministry predicting no major imports in the near future. Following a series of Russian strikes on critical infrastructure in March, Ukraine experienced record-high electricity imports. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy addressed the recent attacks on Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, emphasizing the urgent need for enhanced air defences and international support to counter Russian aggression.

Despite ongoing challenges, Zelenskiy remains hopeful for a significant U.S. aid package approval by Congress, despite facing opposition. The country’s power grid company reported damages from Russian attacks on power stations and networks but assured that the system remains stable and balanced. While power cuts were necessary in some regions, the overall power system in Ukraine continues to function adequately.
