Agribusiness consultancy AgRural revealed that Brazil’s soybean harvest progress for the 2023/24 season had reached 69% of the planted area by last Thursday, marking a 6-percentage-point increase from the previous week. Although slightly below the 70% mark recorded at the same period in the previous year, harvesting is currently focused in the Matopiba region and Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost state, where producers are noting favorable yields.
AgRural highlighted that second corn planting in Brazil’s center-south region has been completed, slightly earlier than the previous year when 96% of the area had been sown by this point. As the planting phase concludes, attention has shifted to weather conditions and their impact on crop development. Concerns have been raised about warm weather and irregular rainfall affecting producers in Parana state and southern Mato Grosso do Sul state. Despite a recent drop in temperatures, both states continue to face insufficient rainfall, posing challenges for crop growth and development.
