Poultry Producer BRF to Pay 2% Premium for Regenerative Soy

Brazilian poultry and pork processor BRF has announced it will pay a 2% premium over market prices for soybeans produced through regenerative agricultural practices. This initiative, organized by the Reg.IA consortium—which includes Bayer AG and several Brazilian companies—aims to enhance soil health and productivity using techniques like crop rotation and organic fertilization.

Produzindo Certo, a firm involved in establishing sustainable agriculture supply chains, anticipates that the project will encompass 30 soy farms within a year, producing over 200,000 metric tons of verified regenerative soy. This initiative is crucial for meatpackers like BRF, as they rely on soymeal to feed their livestock.

Bayer will provide tools to measure the benefits that farmers achieve through these regenerative practices, supporting the project’s goals and promoting sustainable agriculture.
