Ukraine’s 2024 Grain Harvest Reaches 20 Million Tons

As of July 25, Ukraine has harvested approximately 20 million metric tons of grains, according to the farm ministry. This includes 14.7 million tons of wheat harvested from 3.5 million hectares, yielding an average of 4.2 tons per hectare. Additionally, farmers have gathered 3.87 million tons of barley with a yield of 3.79 tons per hectare and 416,300 tons of peas yielding 2.19 tons per hectare. The total also includes 3.08 million tons of rapeseed.

The ministry recently raised its forecast for the 2024 grain harvest to 56 million tons, up from a previous estimate of 52.4 million tons. When combined with oilseeds, the overall crop could reach 77 million tons.

However, concerns have arisen regarding potential declines in the harvest of late crops in central, southern, and eastern regions due to extreme heat, with estimates suggesting a possible reduction of 20-30%.
